3 Most Elaborately Decorated Holidays
Do you love to sprinkle hearts and cupids around your home and office to celebrate the love of Valentine’s Day? Maybe you prefer the glitz and glamour of New Year’s Eve. Some holidays seem to go past without much fuss and bother. After all, how exactly do you decorate for Groundhog Day? Other holidays, howeve,r are impossible to miss as we see lights and decorations adorning homes, stores and offices in celebration.
Three holidays stand out by the amount of effort we put into decorating for them. According to the sales volume of party stores and retailers, some holidays bring out the decorating urge more than others.
Easter: Depending on where you live, Easter is either the second or third most popular holiday to break out decorations. Everything from plastic eggs, pastel twinkle lights and giant bunnies share the stage with Holy scenes and humble crosses.
The region you live in will influence your decorating choice, since sometimes Easter lands when there is still snow on the ground. However, most people enjoy a family dinner complete with napkins, tablecloths and center pieces, all celebrating an Easter theme.
Halloween: There’s no surprise that this holiday ties with Easter and sometimes surpasses it for decorating fun. Jack-o-lanterns are just the beginning, as we see homes decked out in spooky cobwebs, screaming door mats and front yard tombstones.
There is little that thrills and delights some people as much as creeping out their neighbours and any wandering children looking for a treat. Costumes, of-course are huge, but not just for trick-or-treaters as we see everyone from bankers to grocery clerks dressing up and lighting pumpkins for Halloween.
Christmas: Definitely number one on the list, in some households it starts to look a lot like Christmas as soon as November 1st comes along. Indoors and out, we see coloured lights, garlands, wreaths and decked out trees. Towels, tableware, and doormats in festive poinsettias or holiday snowmen take up residence in the homes of the most fanatic decorators.
Nativity scenes, with the spotlight on Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus adorn homes, churches and storefront windows. There is hardly a business you can find in December that doesn’t get into the holiday spirit with a little tree, some red bows or a spray of garland. Surely a shopping mall without a lavish tribute to jolly old St. Nicholas is unheard of! What would Christmas be without a visit to Santa, to sit on his lap and whisper secret wishes in his ear?
Parades are just one reason to dress up, and we see Santa hats, reindeer antlers and even the occasional Christmas tree cap warming the heads of newborns all the way up to the golden senior set. The season of Christmas is stretched out longer than most holidays, and we see signs of celebration everywhere, and continue to admire the lovely strings of Christmas lights well into the new year.
